Welcome To WordPress’ New Address

Well, it’s official, we’ve moved! If you look up in your address bar, you’ll notice the address of this site has changed. Formerly WelcomeToWordPress.com, we’ve relocated to a new home here at WelcomeToWP.com

Why Move?

Well, personally I think this one looks cooler, but mostly because when I first set up this blog, I didn’t think of the implications of using the trademarked term “WordPress” in the domain name. Silly, I know, but I can admit to occasionally overlooking the obvious

Since then, I’ve come to learn that WordPress requests that other sites refrain from using their tradmark in their domain name, which really is a completely reasonable and justifiable request. They have, after all, worked extremely hard (and done a great job) of building up the reputation and image that go along with that trademark. Because of this, as soon as I realized I was (inadvertently) going against that request I bought new domain name!

What Else Has Changed?

Nothing! Everything will continue to run as it always has, and since I still own the old domain, it’d forwarding here, so old links will still work! (WordPress is fine with old domain names forwarding to new ones like this) Everything seems to be up and running on this end, but if you encounter any broken links, please don’t hesitate to send me a message on the Contact page and I’ll get it cleaned up ASAP!
