This is exactly what I have been looking for, step by step visual instructions. I am new to all of this blogging stuff and it has been an utter nightmare, but this video tutorial makes it sooooooo much easier. Thanks for this amazing free content.
Hi David!
Glad you found it helpful!
I’ll be posting more videos on the “nuts and bolts” of WordPress in the near future. I have a few in the editing stage that cover some more of the settings and options screens.
Although I understood much of that already, you explained it very well. Do you know if some plugins conflict with others? Also, can you install too many plugins?
@Connie
As far as too many plugins are concerned, I don’t know of a maximum number. Depending on what the plugins do, I suppose it IS possible for having too many installed to slow down your database if they are making a lot of queries – but that’s just a theory, and we’d be talking about a LOT of plugins. The odds of running into that issue are (in my mind) minimal.
To answer your other question, yes some plugins can conflict with others. If you think this might be happening to you, you can test it by deactivating all of your plugins at once. Then reactivate them one at a time to see if/when the symptom you are troubleshooting returns.
