Network Marketing is really such an amazing industry and it can provide you with the type of income that allows you to live the lifestyle that you desire. However, it can be overwhelming to try to market your “business opportunity” on the internet if you don’t know what you are doing!
Well, I’d really like to help you out with this since Lynne and I are Network Marketers like yourself. I am going to teach you how with WordPress (and my help), you can create your own online presence and start getting qualified, targeted leads each and every day!
No, this isn’t about a bunch of hype or me promising you are going to start getting 50 leads a day. What I will promise you though, is that you will be building “You, Inc.” and branding yourself, not your company.
If you don’t know what I mean by “You, Inc.”, then stop right now and go get yourself a copy of Magnetic Sponsoring. It will cost you less than $40 and won’t take more than a couple of hours to read, but it will teach you the fundamentals of attraction marketing and personal branding which are absolutely essential if you want to survive online today.
I’m serious about this one…Magnetic Sponsoring…go now!
Okay, now that we have that taken care of….back to what I was saying.
That’s right, “You, Inc.”
We are going to focus on two important concepts:
- You must brand You, not your company because people join people…people they know, like and trust.
- You must identify your prospects’ problems and provide solutions to those problems.
Personal Branding is so important and unfortunately much overlooked by many people in our industry. It’s important to remember that there are thousands of network marketing companies out there and probably hundreds of thousands of distributors.
Don’t get lost in all that noise…stand up and make a name for yourself! Separate yourself from the rest of the pack and position yourself so that people can get to know you. Remember, people do business with people they know, like and trust!
So, what’s the first step?
Go buy your name as a domain name. It should cost you no more than around $10 and you can easily buy it at GoDaddy or any other reputable domain registrar. Many network marketers use their first name, last name format for their domain name like SallyExample.com. Lynne and I have decided to brand ourselves as “Lynne and Chad” so that is what we use. It’s up to you exactly how you would like to do it, but do keep a couple of things in mind.
First, the way you brand yourself should be consistent. What I mean is that if your involved in different social media sites, communities and forums as “Jack Smith”, but your “real” name is actually “John Smith”, then it might be wise to stick with Jack. Just be consistent because you definitely don’t want to confuse your target audience.
As you continue to build your brand and online presence, it is going to be even more important to own your domain name and have a blog/website set up. You want to “own” your name on the organic search results and you want people to be able to go to your website/blog to find out more about you, who you are and what you have to offer!
Well, as soon as you are ready to start building your “home” which is how I think of your own personally branded domain name, you will need to purchase a web hosting plan. If you are serious at all about this business, then you absolutely must have your own self-hosted WordPress blog, not the free WordPress.com version and I explain why in this article if you are not familiar with the differences.
We personally use and recommend Bluehost for your web hosting needs and if you are ready to get started, you can actually go there and sign up for your own web hosting plan and you will get your domain name for free.
Alright, so now you have your own blog set up with your name and now you can start selling your business opportunity on your blog, right?
That is not what you should be doing. Quite frankly, people aren’t searching for your business opportunity…they are searching for a solution to their problems!
You must first figure out who you are targeting and what their problems are and then you can begin to build your content around that.
Let’s just say for sake of argument that your prospects are other network marketers. What are their problems? How can you help them?
Well, it all depends on your skill sets and the knowledge that you have and continue to attain each and every day. Maybe you are a really great copywriter. Well, it might behoove you to write posts that teach other marketers how to become better copywriters. You can set up your blog with different categories of the topics that you plan on discussing each week.
One of those categories could be “Copywriting Tips”…maybe another could be “Network Marketing Training” and maybe another could be “Traveling” where you could discuss some of the great places you get to visit and the tie in would be how your business allows you to see the world (which is one of your passions), and continue to run your business without skipping a beat! (These are obviously just examples, you would need to do your own keyword research :))
People want to know that you are a real person so it is okay to share some of your passions, as long as you are still providing value to your readers and not just rambling about yourself…ha ha 🙂
You get the point though, right? Become a teacher, a leader, become a person of value, but more importantly provide that value to your prospects and they will respect you for it and want more.
Now, it’s important that you are consistent about adding content to your blog. You don’t need to do it every day, but you do need to be consistent. A good rule of thumb is post when you have something of value to share, not just to post. However, this should probably be at least once a week, especially if you are using your blog as a lead generation tool.
How Can Your Blog Generate Leads For You?
Now, you do your appropriate keyword research and decide what your category names are going to be and then you begin adding keyword oriented posts. It can take days, weeks and even months for some of your content to begin showing up on the organic search results (hopefully you’ve done your due diligence, though and it only takes days or maybe weeks at most!)
So, how do you get visitors to your blog in addition to the natural searches that your target audience will be searching on the search engines? Well, it would certainly help to share your content with your friends on social media sites like Twitter and Facebook
